So, every time I open my wardrobe nowadays very specific colour stares right back at me. To be precise they are my basic colours which is black, white, brown and beige. Never in my life I thought I would be so much into black as I am now. I don’t quite know exactly when this change started to happen but I am glad it did. Mainly because it helped me quite a lot to buy less clothes.Owning clothes in the same colour family makes life a bit easier, because they fit perfectly in the puzzle.
This is why my shopping pattern has changed drastically. I have stopped doing massive amount of impulsive online purchases and thank god! I did that. I was actually spending money that I didn’t even have. This just means spending daddy’s cash, call me privileged . Now before I buy anything, I ask myself if I am going to wear that piece for at least 15 times. If the answer is no, I keep it back and don’t even think about it. If the answer is yes, my money swiftly gets transferred to Boohoo.com.
In my opinion, it is a mandatory requirement to have a pair of jeans that would fit you like a glove yet is comfortable. I prefer light blue denims, but stick to what you like. Pair it with a nice white shirt, because white shirt and blue jeans is a classic, right? It looks great, no matter the occasion, but make sure it is ironed. No creases please!
You can also get a good quality white t-shirt and a black t-shirt, they will never fail you. You need to go to uni and can’t think of an outfit? Just tuck any one of them inside a skater skirt with knee high boots and you are good to go. Need to go to a formal event? Wear your black t-shirt with a black blazer and smart trousers. It is very versatile and wouldn’t disappoint you. Just make sure to take good care of it whilst wearing it. Read the tags that they come with and follow the instructions on how to wash them.
If you are feeling fancy, get a satin black shirt to wear with your denims. They always take the outfit a notch higher! Pair up with your favourite heels, you can totally wear it to a fancy dinner or a brunch date. Now that it is winter, I am always wrapped up in my navy blue wool jacket or my beige jacket. They seem to go perfectly with a lot of my outfits because of the colour family I mentioned above.
Basics for me also include footwear. A white sneaker, a black Nike trainers, a pair of navy blue heels, a pair of black knee high boots and a pair of black ankle boots are my constants. Be it any outfit, I choose one and I am out of the door without any stress. They are my comfiest pairs, which I can wear for hours and would also make me look put together.
P.S.- I hope this post gives you some tips on how to build up your own basic wardrobe, but don’t shy away from adding a pop of colour if that’s your jam. They always make outfits interesting.
